Gifted Scholars Leadership Academy (“The Academy”) is a proposed residential care program in Philadelphia serving girls ages 11–17 from across Pennsylvania who are in foster care or experiencing homelessness.
Every girl deserves a safe place to call home.
More than a place to stay, The Academy will provide a warm, stable, family-like environment where each girl is known, valued, and cared for. Through trauma-informed support, meaningful relationships with caring adults, academic enrichment, leadership opportunities, and practical life-skills development, girls will have the support and opportunities to heal from adversity, learn, grow, and flourish.
THE NEED
Girls in foster care or experiencing homelessness often face significant challenges, including trauma, educational disruption, housing instability, mental health concerns, and increased vulnerability to violence and exploitation.
The need for supportive residential and educational programs remains urgent. Without targeted support, many young people remain at risk of continued instability and a future of poverty.
